The True Life Companies Announces Scott Scherer to Lead National Sales Efforts

DENVER, CO — [DATE] — The True Life Companies (TTLC), a Denver-based real estate investment and development firm focused on solving America’s housing shortage through attainable housing communities, today announced that Scott Scherer will lead the company’s national sales and capital-raising initiatives.

Scherer brings more than two decades of experience across financial services, capital markets, and alternative investments, with a proven track record of building distribution platforms and raising capital across multiple channels. Over the course of his career, Scherer has helped raise more than $1 billion across banks, wire houses, independent broker-dealers (IBDs),RIAs, family offices, and institutional investors.

In this role, Scherer will work closely with TTLC’s leadership team to expand the company’s advisor relationships and support the growth of its investment offerings designed to address the nation’s housing-supply imbalance while delivering compelling opportunities for investors.

“Scott brings an extraordinary depth of experience in financial services and capital formation,” said Scott Clark, CEO of The True Life Companies. “His ability to build trusted relationships with financial advisors and investors across the country will play a critical role as we continue expanding our platform and delivering solutions that help address the housing crisis. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Scherer’s career includes leadership roles and capital-raising mandates with several prominent firms, including The Hartford, Genworth Financial, Dreyfus/Mellon Bank, Cole Capital, Preferred Apartment Communities, and Shop off Real Estate Investments. Earlier in his career, he helped launch The Hartford family of mutual funds managed by Wellington Management Company.

He also built and led the Sports & Entertainment Division at Genworth Financial, supporting financial advisors who work with professional athletes and entertainers, and later created the Sports &Entertainment Department at Cole Capital, a net-lease real estate investment company. As a registered NFLPA player financial advisor, Scherer provided financial education and literacy programs to dozens of professional sports teams and hundreds of players across the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, LPGA, and MLS.

In addition to his institutional experience, Scherer previously operated as a retail financial advisor, building a  practice before successfully selling the business. He has also worked with venture-backed companies and private sponsors, helping support capital raises that increased company valuations by hundreds of millions of dollars.

Beyond financial services, Scherer is also an entrepreneur. He founded the Hall of Fame Sports Association, which operated national flag football leagues, camps, and clinics before its eventual sale to private equity. He currently operates in an advisory capacity for the Meltzer Sports Fund and serves as a strategic advisor to Forma Capital. Scherer also founded Hall of Fame Capital Partners, a firm that assists sponsors and companies with their private capital needs.

“It's fantastic to partner with The True Life Companies and represent a group with innovative products and financial solutions to not only help financial advisors and investors but make a positive impact across the United States with first-time buyers,” said Scherer. “I love that the team has integrity and passion for this mission.”
