 Project Accountant (construction) – Homes Built for America

Responsibilities:

 

• In this role, you'll be responsible for the accounting operations for select construction projects of the company, reporting to the VP Finance / Controller with significant interaction with Assistant Controller and the Director of Operations.

• Proactively managing and maintaining a variety of documentation such as building permits, lien releases, insurance certs, W-9 forms, etc.

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

• Preparing and processing vendor invoices, coding to job cost, matching with internal POs and submitting invoices for management approval.

• Reconciliation of vendor statements and resolving payment discrepancies and disputes on behalf of the company.

• Scheduling and preparing checks, ACH and wire transfer payments, monitoring discount opportunities, and other cash management responsibilities, subject to supervisory approval prior to payment.

• Maintaining Lien Waiver Log; ensure that all waivers are received and contact vendors for missing waivers.

• Maintaining vendor certificates of insurance and working directly with 3rd party insurance administrators.

• Assisting with preparation of monthly draw request package to be presented to lenders.

• Preparing intercompany allocation invoices for vendor invoices posted to the various project entities.

• Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes.

• Running monthly financial reports and provide variance analysis as required by Senior Management.

• Providing month-end accounting close support.

• Creating new commitments and process commitment change orders throughout the month.

• Assisting Project Management team in the reconciliation of purchase orders and subcontracts.

• Updating subcontractor master agreements.

• Participating in weekly project meetings by providing status updates on accounting, accounts payable and other matters relative to purchase orders and subcontracts.

• Providing accurate and effective document preparation and records management relative to the Accounts Payable function in accordance with records retention policies and procedures.

• Other assigned tasks as assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements/Skills:

• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction accounting is required.

• A certification in construction accounting is preferred.

• Excellent knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures.

• To be an analytical and detail-oriented individual with a high level of financial accuracy.

• To have a competent understanding of construction insurance requirements, preliminary notice and lien release procedures, and construction contract terms is required.

• Previous experience with buyer upgrade/option selection management is a plus.

• Familiarity with accounting software, such as Jonas Premier and NetSuite is preferred.

• DwellingLive software experience is a plus.

• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Computer and software skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office programs at a proficient level, with Excel proficiency required.

• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

BENEFITS:

 

Salary Range

$85,000-$110,000
